Greater Manchester Coalition of Disabled People (GMCDP) was established in 1985. It is an organisation of disabled people: run and controlled by disabled people. It campaigns to promote the rights of disabled people and our inclusion in society; provides information of use and interest to disabled people; runs events, members’ meetings, and training courses; encourages and supports the self-organisation of disabled people; and takes part in consultations with voluntary and statutory organisations to ensure that equality and accessibility is embedded into the development of policies and services.
GMCDP actively promotes the understanding and implementation of the Social Model of Disability, which underpins all of its work.
